It’s more than just asking questions…The heart of inquiry has to be about developing understanding, without this, inquiry is nothing more that a tool used by educators to create excitement about learning and to encourage students to ask questions. As educators we make incredibly important decisions everyday, decisions that define the way that we use children’s time at school, and around the learning opportunities that we provide for them. In search of a model of inquiry that ensures students have the opportunity to develop deepening understanding, to construct theories, and to be able to transfer their thinking, it is important the we take the time to really understand the research behind how people learn.
